Arizona EVV software, AHCCCS-compliant from clock-in to upload
SpokeChoice is an AHCCCS-compliant Alternate EVV system built for Arizona agencies. Providers clock in on their own phone with GPS, even with no signal, guardians sign online, and approved visits go to AHCCCS every night, with the same times your claims are billed from.
- Nothing to install from an app store
- EVV clock-in works offline
- Visits sent to AHCCCS every night
Arizona's EVV rules, and how SpokeChoice handles each one
EVV is a federal requirement for in-home services. AHCCCS adds its own rules on top: a schedule for every visit, a second way to verify it, and a reason code for every exception.
Who, what, when and where
GPS location is captured at clock-in and clock-out on the provider's phone, and the member, service, provider and times are recorded with it.
A schedule for every visit
Providers clock in against their schedule, and a schedule can't be changed once its start time passes. If your agency allows it, a provider with no schedule can create a Quick Appointment.
A second verification
The member or guardian e-signs each visit online, or the provider records the codes from the member's EVV token (FOB).
A reason code for every exception
Late by more than 60 minutes, a forgotten clock-in or clock-out, no GPS or a device problem: the provider gives the reason at the time, the guardian acknowledges it when signing, and the office clears it when approving.
No-shows recorded
A missed visit is marked no-show with the reason and how it was resolved, and linked to the visit that replaced it. The member's contingency plan is right there for reference.
Visits sent to AHCCCS
Approved visits go to the AHCCCS EVV aggregator automatically every night. Nothing is sent until the office approves it, so exceptions are cleared first.
EVV applies to in-home services such as attendant care and habilitation. Therapy, centers, group homes and foster homes don't need EVV, and SpokeChoice applies the EVV rules only where they're required.
Simple for caregivers, on the phone they already have
Caregivers open SpokeChoice from an icon on their home screen, clock in, and clock out. The rules are checked for them.
Any phone, nothing to install
SpokeChoice runs in the phone's browser, with nothing to download from an app store. Added to the home screen, it looks and works like an app, and providers reset their own passwords.
Clock in and out with no signal
Providers clock in and out with no cell service, and the visit syncs when the phone is back online. A clock-out is never refused because of a balance.
Knows when to stop
At clock-in, providers see the latest time they can clock out, worked out from the member's authorization, the ISP limits and their own work-hour limits.
Reminders on the phone
Notifications remind providers to clock in before a visit and to clock out on time, and alert them when they're running late.
Honest timestamps
SpokeChoice checks the phone's clock at sign-in and on every request, so changing the phone's time can't fake a visit.
English and Spanish

Guardians review and sign each visit online
No paper timecards to chase. Guardians sign from any device, and the office sees who hasn't signed yet.
- Guardians see each visit's times, provider and notes, plus any change made after it was recorded, before they sign.
- Designees can sign for a guardian, and a guardian who is also a paid provider uses the same login.
- Unsigned visits are listed for the office, with reminders sent by text or message.
- A visit the office changes after it was signed goes back to the guardian to sign again.
FOBs, center time clocks and live-in caregivers
EVV tokens (FOBs)
Arizona requires a second way to record EVV besides the phone. An EVV token is assigned to the member and stays in the home, under the member's control. The provider writes down its code at clock-in and clock-out, the office enters the codes, and SpokeChoice decodes them against the token's serial number. The codes also verify the visit, so no guardian signature is needed. One token can serve up to three members who live together.
Center time clock
Day programs and group homes don't need EVV, but their staff still clock in and out, on a shared device at the location, so their time flows to payroll the same way.
Live-in caregivers
Mark a caregiver as live-in or onsite for a member once. They're exempt from the scheduling rules, and the live-in reason code is added to their visits automatically.
Every visit followed all the way to AHCCCS
- Approved visits go to the AHCCCS EVV aggregator every night, with the actual clock-in and clock-out times. A changed time is sent with its reason code.
- Every night, SpokeChoice lists anything that would keep a visit from being sent, such as a missing Medicaid ID, a provider's SSN or a contingency plan not reviewed in 90 days.
- Billing counts the same times EVV receives, so claims match the EVV record, and they wait until AHCCCS has had the visit for two business days.
Ask whether AHCCCS has a visit
Click the robot on a visit and ask whether it was sent to and accepted by AHCCCS. AI Analysis answers with the transaction ID and the dates, and if the visit wasn't sent, why and how to fix it. It also checks that providers and members are set up correctly before their first visit.
Protected health information (PHI) is never sent to the AI.
Arizona EVV questions
Is SpokeChoice an AHCCCS-compliant EVV system?
Yes. SpokeChoice is an AHCCCS-compliant Alternate EVV system for Arizona agencies. Providers clock in and out by phone with GPS or with a member's EVV token (FOB), guardians e-sign each visit, and approved visits are sent to AHCCCS automatically every night.
Do caregivers need to install an app for EVV?
No. SpokeChoice runs in the web browser on any phone, with nothing to download from an app store. Caregivers add it to their home screen, where it looks and works like an app.
Does SpokeChoice EVV work without cell service?
Yes. Providers can clock in and out with no signal, and the visit syncs when the phone is back online.
What counts as an EVV exception in Arizona?
Clocking in more than 60 minutes late, forgetting to clock in or out, no GPS, no schedule and a device problem are exceptions. Clocking out earlier or later than the schedule is not. In SpokeChoice the provider gives the reason code at the time, the guardian acknowledges it when signing, and the office clears it when approving the visit.
Can caregivers use an EVV FOB instead of a phone?
Yes. Arizona requires a second way to record EVV besides the phone, and SpokeChoice supports EVV tokens (FOBs). The token is assigned to the member and stays in the home. The caregiver writes down its code at clock-in and clock-out, the office enters the codes, and SpokeChoice decodes them against the token's serial number.
Which services need EVV in Arizona?
EVV applies to in-home services such as attendant care and habilitation. Therapy, centers, group homes and foster homes don't need EVV, and SpokeChoice applies the EVV rules only where they are required.
How does SpokeChoice keep caregivers from faking visit times?
GPS is recorded at clock-in and clock-out, and the phone's clock is checked at sign-in and on every request, so changing the phone's time can't fake a visit. The actual clock times go to AHCCCS, and any change needs a reason code and is kept in the visit's history.
